The Vale of Glamorgan Council is inviting bids from organisations to provide water based activities and events at Cosmeston Lakes Country Park, that attract users and enhance the visitor experience.
The opportunity, which is currently open the tender is for a "dynamic, forward thinking and innovative organisation to provide water based activities/events" at the popular tourist attraction in the Vale of Glamorgan.
The lake is a former quarry that is 15 acres in size and is deep enough to conduct water sports, with any compound for equipment to be located away from the lake so as not to spoil the aesthetics of the lake.
The Country Park is open all year; however, water based activities are only permitted to take place between the 1st of March and the 30th of November and are restricted to the east lake, due to the special nature interest on site.
Amongst other things, the Council says the new operator must:
Encourage visits and enhance the visitor experience when visiting the Country Park;
Compliment the nature in which the Country Park is managed and presented tothe public;
Facilitate continued access by current user groups and encourage additional groups or individuals within the community;
Support continuous improvement. The successful Supplier(s) must be committed to working with the Council to identify and introduce improvements to the Country Park throughout the Contract period;
Deliver a positive income to the Council. The successful Supplier(s) will understand the context in which the Council operates and ensure a competitive bid that maximises income for the Council.
Provide access to the lake for users in a safe manner demonstrating best practice where possible.
