South Wales Police for Cardiff and the Vale have been working with the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Trading Standards department to crack down on rogue traders in the county.
During the operation, police have been checking in on individuals and businesses seen working on properties in Barry, inspecting paperwork and speaking to residents about the work being carried out on their properties.
In a post on social media, the police advised residents of the Vale to be vigilant to this type of scam, warning that individuals perpetrating such activities often targeted elderly and vulnerable people and, as such, locals should make sure to look out for their neighbours and anyone they believe could fall victim to this crime.
Sergeant Natalie Harris said:
“We hope this operation sends a clear message to rogue traders that we will not tolerate vulnerable people being targeted by such scams and doorstep crime. Residents can feel reassured that we are committed to driving such traders out of the Vale.”
Anybody who suspects rogue trading should contact 101 immediately. In an emergency they should dial 999.
