South Wales Central MS and Welsh Conservative Leader Andrew RT Davies has paid tribute to the “vital contribution” of community pharmacies throughout the pandemic, following a visit to Well Pharmacy in Llanwit Major.
Mr Davies was welcomed to the pharmacy by Well Regional Manager Neal Cadden and Russell Goodway from Community Pharmacy Wales.
Well have remained open throughout the pandemic, ensuring all essential services remained available.
They have assisted with the COVID 19 vaccine rollout, administering vaccines in the branch, and also provide COVID lateral flow tests.
Mr Davies paid tribute to the whole team at Well for going “above and beyond”, and said their work highlighted the important role community pharmacies play.
Commenting on the visit, Mr Davies said, “I'm extremely grateful to Neal and the team at Well Pharmacy in Llantwit for taking the time to meet.
"Community pharmacies have played a key role throughout the pandemic, including through administering COVID vaccinations and the provision of lateral flow tests, but they're keen to do more.
"The whole team have gone above and beyond the call of duty and I'd like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to them.”
Neal Cadden, Senior Regional Operations Manager - Wales from Well Pharmacy said: “We really appreciate Andrew taking the time to visit our Well Llantwit Pharmacy, which has adapted effectively to run one of Wales’ Covid Vaccination Clinics.
“I know it gave all our pharmacy team a boost and highlighted the importance of the work we are doing.
The past year Community Pharmacy continues to play a pivotal role in supporting the health and wellbeing of the communities we serve, expanding our range of services and rising to the challenge of unprecedented levels of demand for both dispensing and consultation services.”
