Vale of Glamorgan MS Jane Hutt has announced that she will not be putting her name forward for reselection for the 2026 Senedd elections.
Ms Hutt has represented the Vale of Glamorgan in the Welsh Parliament and Senedd since devolution began in 1999, making her the UK's longest serving female minister.
In a post on social media, Hutt said "It has been an honour and privilege to represent and serve my constituents in every part of the Vale of Glamorgan - our vibrant and diverse towns and villages, our businesses and communities, our schools and college, our health services and farming community, and our churches and mosque."
"I have also been very fortunate to be given the opportunity to serve in the Welsh Government over this period helping to shape and support policies and laws to meet the needs of Wales.
Jane Hutt is the latest in a series of Labour Welsh Government ministers to announce their departure ahead of the 2026 Senedd election, with twelve out of 30 members doing so to date.
Former First Minister Mark Drakeford announced his decision to step down in August 2023, whilst Cardiff South and Penarth MS Vaughan Gething - another ex-FM - announced he would not be standing for re-election back in September 2024.
Counsel general Julie James, the MS for Swansea West, also announced her departure from the Senedd on Friday.
Reacting to Ms Hutt's announcement, former transport minister Lee Waters said her departure "marks the end of the first chapter of devolved government in Wales."
