A yacht has been rescued after it became stranded in high seas near Nash Point.
A crew member was sea-sick on board the 27ft vessel, which was struggling in strong easterly winds on Saturday.
The RNLI at Barry Dock sent out its all-weather lifeboat, which directed the yacht to follow them towards Porthcawl, hoping to find shelter after rounding Nash Point.
It was deemed unsafe to transfer the unwell crew member at sea due to the dangerous sea state.
But the yacht ran out of fuel and ended up drifting dangerously close to the shoreline. The lifeboat crew rigged and passed a towline to the yacht, which was taken to Porthcawl, where the local Atlantic 85 lifeboat took over for the final stretch.
The sea sick crew member was taken on board the Porthcawl lifeboat - and all aboard the yacht were returned safely.
Andy Gavan, coxswain at RNLI Barry Dock, said: "This was a challenging rescue, but thanks to the training and teamwork of both Barry Dock and Porthcawl lifeboat crews, we were able to bring everyone home safely."
"A successful outcome like this makes all the joint training sessions worthwhile. We are one crew, no matter which lifeboat station we are based at."
