A 5km walk has been held to help raise funds for new specialist gym equipment at Penarth Leisure Centre.
Already, two new reclined bikes have been brought for a studio dedicated to the National Exercise Referral Scheme (NERS), which is run locally by Vale Council's healthy living team.
NERS participants joined community members and local supporters on the route through Penarth, as part of an effort to promote physical activity.
The Public Health Wales-funded programme has been helping people to improve their health and fitness since 2007.
Craig Nichol, one of the event's organisers, said: "I am so pleased with the number of people who have turned out in support of the programme today."
"It shows how much it means to so many people and what a difference our programme can make to people. We are also trying to highlight the importance of variety of activity and also the ease with which you can slot physical activity into your life."
"All you need is a little time and a pair of shoes and you can enjoy a nice walk like we have today."
"We are grateful to the support of the group and their choice of the two recline bikes for the NERS studio in Penarth leisure centre. The bikes will be a great aid for the programme and help many more people improve their health and fitness."
NERS allows health professionals to refer their patients to a local scheme, where they can get tailored lifestyle advice from skilled instructors.
Participants get 16 weeks of low-cost exercise sessions, with the goal of increasing physical activity levels and enhancing overall wellbeing.
Organisers said the new reclining bikes at the leisure centre will provide crucial support for participants working to improve their health and manage chronic conditions.
