Families visiting the Vale's coastline during the summer holidays are being urged to keep safe by emergency services.
With temperatures locally hitting the high 20s this week, police, lifeboat and coastguard teams in Barry have issued safety advice.
South Wales Police officers patrolling Barry Island are handing out safety bands in case children become separated from their families.
It forms part of Operation Elstree, the annual safety campaign by local authorities aimed at keeping the Vale's coastline safe for visitors and residents.
The safety bands are available from PCSOs in the area as well as from some shops and from the RNLI lifeguard hut on the promenade.
Lifeguards are also carrying out regular patrols at four beaches across the county - namely at Whitmore Bay on Barry Island, as well as Llantwit Major, Southerndown and Ogmore-by-Sea - each day from 10am to 6pm throughout the summer.
The RNLI says it encourages coastal visitors to use a lifeguarded beach and if they're swimming, to use the area between the red and yellow flags.
They also recommend using the Float to Live technique if swimmers get into trouble - simply lying on your back and relaxing, resisting the urge to thrash about. In an emergency, call 999 for the coastguard.
Weatherwise, the Vale is set to enjoy some of the warmest days of the year so far with temperatures locally reaching 28C in Barry on Wednesday.
But the sunshine is not expected to last with the Met Office issuing a yellow warning for thunderstorms across South East Wales on Thursday.
