Barry hold Cofis to draw

Barry Town United returned to Cymru Premier action with a 1-1 draw against Caernarfon Town.

After securing their place in the quarter finals of the Nathaniel MG Cup, manager Steve Jenkins opted for two changes to the starting XI with Josh Yorwerth and Robbie Wilmott coming in for Aiden Lewis and absentee Rhys Schwank.

Barry threatened early on when Ollie Hulbert, who scored in Tuesday night's cup win at Trethomas Bluebirds, struck the crossbar from just outside the area.

But it was the Cofis who went ahead after nine minutes, when a well worked interception from Paolo Mendes allowed Adam Davies to set up Louis Lloyd, who slid the ball into an empty net.

The hosts' response came within 30 seconds, when a long ball went unheeded by Caernarfon's defence and Hulbert's cross was turned in from close range by Sam Snaith for his third league goal of the season.

Barry withstood a lengthy spell of pressure from the visitors for the remainder of the first half with keeper Luc Rees making a superb save to deny Lloyd his brace from the edge of the box.

The second half produced little of note, apart from Josh Beecher coming off the subs bench to make his club debut while a close range header from Lloyd was wide of the target.

Barry remain seventh in the table - and three points off the top six - at the start of a busy week that takes in a Tuesday night trip to Haverfordwest County before returning to Jenner on Friday night to face early strugglers Aberystwyth.
