Ben Stait’s side booked their place in the second round thanks to goals from Matty Kimmins and the returning Nathan Renfree against City, who are newly promoted to the Cymru South this season.

Llantwit face top-flight opposition in a fortnight’s time when Cardiff Met visit the newly rechristened ‘Megadome’ at Windmill Lane.

Elsewhere, two of the four wildcard sides from the English pyramid also booked their place in round two.

Cardiff City ran out 3-1 winners at Afan Lido while Merthyr Town beat Taffs Well by the same scoreline on Friday night.

Saturday’s late game sees Newport County’s youth squad away at Llandudno in the first round of the Northern section at 5pm.
