Six Nations: Lloyd dropped for Scotland clash

Wales will field an unchanged starting XV for their Six Nations clash against Scotland at Murrayfield on Saturday.

But Penarth-born Evan Lloyd will miss the game after being dropped from the bench in favour of the returning Dewi Lake.

Lake, who last captained Wales during the autumn internationals, was recalled to the squad by interim coach Matt Sherratt last week, after he recovered from a bicep injury earlier than expected.

The Ospreys hooker is recalled to the replacements bench at the expense of Lloyd, who started in the defeats against France and Italy, before being dropped against Ireland.

The only other change sees tighthead prop Keiron Assiratti recalled to the bench over Henry Thomas.

Wales have not fielded an unchanged starting side since the Rugby World Cup in 2019, when then-head coach Wayne Pivac kept faith inbetween the pool games against Georgia and Australia.

Yet despite falling to a 15th straight Test defeat against Ireland in Cardiff, Sherratt's first game in caretaker charge yieleded much praise and credit for a much improved performance in the wake of Warren Gatland's mid-tournament departure.

Sherratt said: “This week we’ve challenged ourselves to keep improving."

"We want to keep the same intent and bravery as we showed last time out, but making sure that we are building on our game."

“We’re excited for the challenge of playing Scotland in Edinburgh and can’t wait to get out there on Saturday.”

Wales XV to face Scotland: Blair Murray; Tom Rogers, Max Llewellyn, Ben Thomas, Ellis Mee; Gareth Anscombe, Tomos Williams; Nicky Smith, Elliot Dee, WillGruff John, Will Rowlands, Dafydd Jenkins, Jac Morgan (captain), Tommy Reffell, Taulupe Faletau
Replacements: Dewi Lake, Gareth Thomas, Keiron Assiratti, Teddy Williams, Aaron Wainwright, Rhdori Williams, Jarrod Evans, Joe Roberts.
