Barry Town United saw their winning run in the Cymru Premier end with a 4-1 defeat to The New Saints.
Steve Jenkins' men have been in the ascendency of late, having also reached the semi finals of the Nathaniel MG Cup.
But even with UEFA Conference League duties to factor into their fixture list, the reigning champions proved too strong at Jenner Park.
A lunchtime kick-off prompted by a sold-out bonfire display saw just one change from the side that won at Flint last Saturday, with Ryan Kavanagh coming in for the absent Keenan Patten.
Both sides shared the early chances - Sam Snaith managed to dispossess Connor Roberts in the net after a Ollie Hulbert free kick, only to blast his follow up shot over the bar.
A good passage of team play allowed Snaith to find captain Evan Press, whose low effort was denied by the TNS keeper.
But the visitors soon went ahead after 29 minutes with Danny Davies drilling home from the edge of the penalty box past keeper Luc Rees.
Just two minutes later, Craig Harrison's side were already two goals to the good after Ashley Baker beat the scramble for a Leo Smith corner to rifle into the roof of the net.
Rees did go onto deny Declan McManus and Ben Clark in quick succession, while a spectacular overhead kick from Snaith was kept out by Roberts at the other end.
But Snaith produced the response Barry needed on 35 minutes, when from another corner, the loose ball was bundled in at close range.
Yet TNS reopened their two goal lead in stoppage time with a header from McManus from just inside the penalty area.
After the break, Rees prevented Leo King from adding a fourth from close range while Press' cross to Hulbert at the back post was narrowly headed wide as Barry pressed for a way back.
But against the run of play, the Saints killed off the game on 65 minutes as Leo Smith's long range effort rebounded off the crossbar and into the net.
Barry remain fifth in the table - and two points clear in the top six - after Caernarfon capitulated to leaders Penybont, whose 5-1 win leaves them four points clear of TNS.
Next up for Barry is the visit of Connah's Quay Nomads to Jenner Park next Saturday - back at the usual kick off time of 2.30pm.
