Vale of Glamorgan Broadcasting CIC is the company behind Bro Radio, a community radio stations licensed to serve Barry and the surrounding areas on 98.1fm and soon to serve Llantwit Major and the Rural Vale of Glamorgan on 100.2fm. The station is licensed by OFCOM, under the license number of CR122.

Bro Radio is made in the Vale of Glamorgan, by people from the County and surrounding areas.

We hope, that by listening to Bro Radio you'll get an understanding of our love for the Vale of Glamorgan - we love the area and are proud to serve it.

Vale of Glamorgan Broadcasting CIC is a not-for-profit organisation. No share capital, no shareholders, all money we make goes back into developing local people, opportunities and the services we deliver our community.

All Ofcom licensed radio stations in the UK have obligations to abide by the conditions of its license and to ensure that the terms set out in the Ofcom Broadcasters Code are adhered to with regards to its programmes, including its music and local content. Bro Radio’s obligations are set out in our ‘Key Commitments’.

Description of character of service

BRO Radio is a service for the community of Barry. It promotes a feeling of social identity and community pride amongst the economically diverse community of Barry. Its programming consists of a mixture of locally relevant speech and music, and it encourages non-Welsh speakers to learn Welsh.

News Bulletin schedule

Bro Radio delivers hourly news bulletins produced by IRN 24 hours a day covering World, UK and National stories.

Our local news teams, based in the Vale of Glamorgan deliver bulletins focusing on stories in the local area and across the South Wales region.

In the average week, a total of 60 local bulletins during the week and 12 local bulletins during the weekend.

Bulletins are broadcast at half past the hour between 7am & 7pm, during weekdays and at half past the hour between 7am & 3pm during weekends.
