Barry Town will play Penybont in the third round of the Welsh Cup. The last time Barry won this competition was back in the 2002/03 season.
Barry first won the trophy in 1955, beating Chester City in a replay of the final 4-3.
Penybont being fairly new are yet to win the Welsh Cup. The furthest they reached was round 4 in the 2016/17. Penybont are fairly new having only formed in 2013. They currently play in Welsh Football League Division One which is the league below Barry.
Gavin Chesterfield and his team are flying in the Welsh Premier League as they sit second in the league just a point off the top of the table. Penybont will be up against it, especially being away from home.
Penybont however, are unbeaten so far in their season. They currently sit in second as well, they do however have four games in hand over first place to gain just a point to go top. Penybont are hopeful of gaining promotion which would see them play Barry a lot more.
Penybont defeated Pantge 3-1 away from home in the first round and Aberbargoed Buds 2-0 away in the second round. Barry Town will play their first game in the cup as they in the top division earning them a entrance in the third round.
Barry and Penybont have met in the cup before and it was in the season where Penybont reached their furthest round in the cup. They defeated Barry along the way in a comfortable 3-0 win.
Barry Town, Momodou Touray, 6 goals so far this season from the man on loan from Newport County. Would cause problems for any defence in the competition.
Penybont, Marcus Griffiths, Last seasons top goalscorer for Penybont. They will surely look to him to score against Barry.
