2024 Community Award winners unveiled

The winners of Bro Radio's Community Awards with Chris Davies Estate Agents were unveiled at a black-tie event at Penarth Pier Pavillion.

Thirty-three finalists from eleven categories came together alongside sponsors, dignitaries and members of the Bro Radio team for the celebration, as part of the local radio station's fifteenth birthday.

Each of the finalists in the event was nominated by members of the local community, colleagues, supporters and members during a nomination process at the start of 2024, before being independently judged and scored by a team of 30 judges based on key category information.

The Charity Award, sponsored by TL Computer Systems - Vale Domestic Abuse Services

The John Lewis Community Event of the Year, supported by Barry Round Table - Cadstock Music Festival

Bro Radio's Community Awards was made possible thanks to the support of Chris Davies Estate Agents, Penarth Pier Pavillion, Events Onstage Limited, Big Fresh Catering Company, Shutterhire Photography and each of the category sponsors.

The awards evening was presented by Bro Radio's evening show Patrick Downes, who said "Our awards returned after a couple of years break, to celebrate fifteen years of Bro Radio serving the Vale of Glamorgan and it's our opportunity to congratulate local people in the third sector, business, community and sport for the outstanding things they do."

"It's also apt that it's the 40th Anniversary of Volunteers' Week in the UK. Without those in our communities, life would be so grey. And as the last few years have shown, there's a superpower in everyone in helping their neighbour - whether that's collecting shopping, litter picking, or supporting the next generation of sports stars and embracing a Vale that's more cohesive and stronger for everyone's wellbeing."

"Congratulations to all of our finalists and winners for their amazing achievements, each of which plays an important role in making the Vale such an amazing place to live, work and visit."
