An inquest has been opened and adjourned after a woman's body was found on Southerndown beach.
Emergency services launched a major search operation after Kylie Davies was spotted walking into the sea on Tuesday 23rd January, as Storm Jocelyn approached.
Efforts to find the 35 year-old were abandoned after two days, before her body was discovered by a member of the public the following Saturday.
The hearing in Pontypridd was told Ms Davies had been reported missing two days before she was seen at the water's edge in her hometown.
Coastguards and lifeboat crews from the Vale took part in the initial overnight search, along with the coastguard helicopter from St Athan.
A shoreline search was carried out the following day, when it became a police matter.
The cause of death has yet to be determined following a post-mortem examination at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital.
Rachel Knight, assistant coroner for South Wales Central, adjourned the hearing until a later date.
